Servings

Serves: 4

Ingredients

  • 600 g potatoes, peeled and boiled
  • 150 g cheddar cheese, grated
  • 100 g mozzarella cheese, cut into cubes
  • 100 g plain flour
  • 1 egg, beaten (for coating)
  • 120 g panko breadcrumbs
  • 30 g butter
  • 5 g salt
  • 2 g black pepper

Method

Step 1: Prepare the Potato Mixture

Boil the potatoes until fork-tender. Drain thoroughly and mash until smooth and creamy. Add the butter, salt, black pepper, and grated cheddar cheese. Mix well until the cheese begins to melt and all ingredients are fully combined.

Step 2: Shape the Cheese Balls

Take a portion of the mashed potato mixture and flatten it gently in your palm. Place a cube of mozzarella cheese in the center and carefully wrap the potato mixture around it, sealing completely to form a smooth ball.

Repeat the process with the remaining mixture until all the cheese balls are formed.

Step 3: Coat the Balls

Roll each potato ball in the plain flour, ensuring it is evenly coated. Dip into the beaten egg, then roll in the panko breadcrumbs until fully covered with a crisp coating.

Step 4: Chill

Arrange the coated cheese balls on a tray and refrigerate for 15–20 minutes. This helps them maintain their shape and creates a crispier finish during cooking.

Step 5: Cook

Preheat the air fryer or oven to 200°C (390°F).

Cook the cheese balls for 15–20 minutes, or until they are golden brown, crispy, and heated through. The mozzarella center should be melted, creamy, and wonderfully stretchy.

Step 6: Serve

Allow the cheese balls to cool for 2–3 minutes before serving. Enjoy them warm while the cheese center is still perfectly melted.

Serving Suggestion

Serve these crispy Potato Mash Cheese Balls with garlic aioli, ranch dressing, spicy ketchup, sour cream, or your favorite dipping sauce. Perfect for sharing, these golden cheesy bites are guaranteed to disappear quickly from the table! 🧀🥔✨🍽️
