Main ingredient:
Dates — (Tamr).
2 natural, pitted dates.
250 ml of water.
1 teaspoon of chia seeds — Τσία (Tsía), optional.
A few drops of lemon — Λεμόνι (Lemóni), optional.
Dates are fruits that provide fiber, potassium, copper, magnesium, and various antioxidants. Their fiber content makes them a good addition to a varied diet.
🥤 Preparation
Remove the pit from the dates — (Tamr).
Place them in a glass with 250 ml of water.
Leave them to hydrate for 6–8 hours.
In the morning you can eat the dates along with water.
If you wish to increase the fiber content, add a teaspoon of chia seeds — Τσία (Tsía), previously soaked.
You can add a few drops of lemon to give it a fresher taste.
🌿 What can they contribute to the colon?
Dates contain dietary fiber, which contributes to the normal functioning of the digestive system and can promote proper intestinal transit.
In addition, they contain plant compounds that are being researched for their potential antioxidant effects.
But remember: dates don’t “cleanse” the colon or eliminate accumulated toxins. The body has natural mechanisms for eliminating waste.
🫀 And what about the liver?
Dates contain polyphenols and other antioxidant compounds. They can be part of a healthy diet when consumed in moderation.
However, there is not enough evidence to claim that date water detoxifies the liver, regenerates liver cells, or cures fatty liver.
To protect the liver, a balanced diet, physical activity, maintaining a healthy weight, and limiting excessive alcohol consumption are much more important.
👁️ Can they benefit visual health?
Dates contain various antioxidant compounds and small amounts of carotenoids, but they should not be considered a treatment to improve vision or prevent eye diseases.
To take care of your visual health, it is preferable to maintain a varied diet that includes fruits and vegetables of different colors and to have eye exams when necessary.
⚠️ An important precaution
Dates contain a considerable amount of natural sugars, so it is advisable to consume them in moderate portions.
If you have diabetes or need to control your glucose, keep dates in mind when counting towards your total carbohydrate intake.
A sudden increase in fiber can also produce gas or abdominal bloating.
And remember: dates are a nutritious food, but no fruit or drink can “cleanse” the liver or colon or cure vision problems.
