Ingredients

  • 4 large russet potatoes, thinly sliced
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme (optional)
  • 2 tablespoons butter, cut into small pieces

Instructions

  1. Preheat your air fryer to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine heavy cream, minced garlic, salt, pepper, and thyme. Mix well.
  3. In a greased air fryer-safe baking dish, layer half of the sliced potatoes. Pour half of the cream mixture over the potatoes, and sprinkle half of the cheddar cheese and Parmesan on top.
  4. Add the remaining potato slices and top with the rest of the cream mixture. Finish with the leftover cheese and dot with butter pieces.
  5. Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and place it in the air fryer basket. Cook for 25 minutes.
  6. After 25 minutes, remove the foil and cook for an additional 15 minutes to allow the top to get golden and bubbly.
  7. Once done, let it sit for a few minutes before serving to allow the layers to set.

Chef’s Tips

  • For extra flavor, try adding cooked bacon or ham pieces between the layers.
  • Experiment with different cheese blends for a unique taste—Gruyère or mozzarella work beautifully!
  • Ensure potato slices are uniform in thickness for even cooking.
