Ingredients

1 cup warm water
1 packet active dry yeast
1/4 cup sugar
1 teaspoon salt
3 tablespoons softened butter (or non-dairy substitute)
1 egg, beaten
3 1/2 – 4 cups flour
Directions

In a large mixing bowl, add warm water and yeast. Let it sit briefly, then mix in sugar, salt, butter, and beaten egg.
Use a dough hook (or mix by hand) and add flour gradually until a soft dough forms. The dough should be soft but not sticky.
Place the dough on a floured board and knead a few times until smooth. Transfer to a greased bowl, cover with plastic wrap, and let rise in a warm spot for about 45 minutes.
Punch down the dough, then shape it into 12 rolls. Place them in a greased 13×9 inch baking pan.
Cover and let the rolls rise again for about 30 minutes. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 20 minutes, until golden brown.
Brush the tops with melted butter for that extra soft, rich finish.
