Ingredients:
500 g beef sirloin or flank steak, thinly sliced against the grain
2 large onions, sliced into wedges
2 tablespoons vegetable oil
3 cloves garlic, minced
2 tablespoons soy sauce
1 tablespoon oyster sauce
1 teaspoon sugar
1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
1 tablespoon cornstarch
2 tablespoons water
1 teaspoon sesame oil
2 green onions, chopped (optional for garnish)
Salt to taste
Directions:
In a small bowl, mix the cornstarch and water to create a slurry. Set aside.
Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a large wok or skillet over high heat.
Add the sliced beef and stir-fry for 2–3 minutes until browned but still tender. Remove from the pan and set aside.
Add the remaining oil to the same pan and sauté the garlic for about 30 seconds until fragrant.
Add the sliced onions and cook for 3–4 minutes until slightly softened but still crisp.
Return the beef to the pan and stir well to combine with the onions.
Pour in the soy sauce, oyster sauce, sugar, and black pepper. Stir-fry for another 1–2 minutes.
Add the cornstarch slurry and cook briefly until the sauce thickens and coats the beef and onions evenly.
Drizzle with sesame oil, taste, and adjust seasoning with salt if needed.
Garnish with chopped green onions and serve hot with steamed rice.
