Country Fried Steak with Cream Gravy

Ingredients

2 beef cube steaks

1 cup all-purpose flour

1 tsp salt

1 tsp black pepper

1/2 tsp paprika

1/2 tsp garlic powder

2 eggs

1/2 cup milk

1 cup buttermilk

Vegetable oil for frying

2 tbsp butter

2 tbsp flour (for gravy)

2 cups milk (for gravy)

Salt and black pepper to taste

Instructions

Pat the cube steaks dry and set aside. In a bowl mix flour, salt, pepper, paprika, and garlic powder. In another bowl whisk eggs with milk. Dip each steak into the flour mixture, then into the egg mixture, then back into the flour mixture pressing to coat well. Heat oil in a skillet over medium heat and fry the steaks until golden brown and crispy on both sides then remove and set aside. In the same pan melt butter and whisk in flour to form a roux then slowly add milk while whisking continuously until thick and creamy. Season gravy with salt and black pepper. Pour the cream gravy over the fried steaks and serve.
